Why should you go vegan?

Why is being vegan a better option for your body and for all the various organisms of the environment? Why should we as a collective society make efforts to be selective about what we put in our bodies? Keep reading!

Individual prosperity

First, think about your individual wellness. There are a variety of reasons that the vegan lifestyle is good for your overall health. These reasons may include, but are not limited to, a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cataracts, arthritis, osteoporosis, prostate, colon, and breast cancer, and I am sure a host of others. We know that a healthier lifestyle such as veganism is beneficial to one's longterm health, however we often have a tendency to appreciate more benefits that we can see and feel first hand, those that typically affect us on more of a day to day basis. That being said, here are some of the many positive impacts veganism will have on your body and general wellness that I have experienced since I became vegan.

Assuming the vegan diet is a healthy one which consists of large portions of fresh, natural foods, you will see a decline in the amount of blemishes on your skin, resulting in more clear, healthy skin. This is because milk products in particular are high in hormones. It is also because the antioxidants in fresh produce based diets compensate for the free radicals which account for visual imperfections upon the skin.

Since I stopped consuming dairy products and started making efforts to ensure that the majority of what I am putting in my body is raw foods, I have lost 15 lbs in a matter of six months. Provided that you are absorbing a sufficient amount of protein along with your vegan diet, it is not uncommon to find yourself remaining fuller longer. This is because healthy vegan diets are often plentiful in foods with high-fiber alternatives to the foods that they cut out. People who adhere to a vegan diet also statistically have a lower body mass index than their counterparts.

I have received a vast amount of compliments on my natural scent since I became vegan. Body odor is affected immensely by what is being expended by the sweat glands, the body uses skin to rid itself of part of its unwanted waste, this means that going vegan will result in consuming less of these unwanted wastes in the first place. Food like red meat and dairy cause a stagnation in the body by rotting in the digestive tract and releasing ample amounts of toxins into the bloodstream causing the body to create a natural, unappealing odor.

Environmental prosperity

Now, think about the big picture; the larger impact that vegan diets have on the environment and all its lovely organisms.

Vegan diets reduce energy consumption as raising livestock costs a lot of energy, while plant-based proteins can be raised with eight times less energy costs than meat-based proteins.

Plant-based diets purify the air, while all the livestock in the world cause more air pollution than all of the cars, buses planes, ships, and other methods of transportation in the world

combined.

Raising animals for food- livestock- also requires massive amounts of land, food, and water. It causes immense animal suffering. According to a study published by the Worldwatch Institute, 51% or more of global greenhouse-gas emissions are caused by animal agriculture.

An study from Oxford University, published in the journal Climatic Change shows that "meat eaters are responsible for almost twice as many greenhouse gas emissions per day as vegetarians and two and a half times as many as vegans." Going vegan is the most efficient and affective way of reducing your carbon footprint.

Studies have concluded that, by 2050, an estimated 80% increase in global greenhouse-gas emissions from food production can be prevented, if the global diet is an equal-parts variety of Mediterranean, pescetarian, and vegan/ vegetarian diets. Longterm, this issue and other environmental issues like it will be positively impacted from our collective society being selective about their diets. This is a straightforward way to start making change on a global level for our environment and treating your own body at the same time! Going vegan is the most efficient and affective way of reducing your carbon footprint.
