El Puente book donation 2018
2/16/18
For an ongoing span of four years, I have volunteered at the El Puente tutoring center where I tutor Latino students who are in K-6 grade. I executed a book drive and was able to donate upwards of 300 books to the kids at El Puente. An indescribable feeling is created when the kids run up to me and give me the warmest most sincere hugs because they are so excited that they get to take these books home.

El Puente Book Donation 2019
3/ 14/ 19
This year, I organized the same week long event in which the students at El Puente tutoring center logged their reading for one week and in reward for participating, they were able to choose 2-3 books from a selection of several hundred to take home with them and keep! The remaining books that the kids do not take home were donated to the center's library for the kids to read while they are at the center. Noticeably, Fernando was especially excited to have gotten the book, Olivia Acts Out.
This event would not have been possible without all of the generous people who contribute to my book drives every year, thank you!

The Queer Communications Project
The HERlead fellowship has provided me with a very generous grant to fund my state wide outreach project, "The Queer Communications Project."
The Queer Communications Project consists of a series of persistence workshops at several LGBT Centers across Ohio. I worked with several local licensed therapists and counselors over a span of about five months to design a workshop that gives fellow queer people the tools and resources they need to remain resilient through challenging experiences. In order to maintain the privacy of our attendees, we do not take photos during sessions.
Next Workshop: May 25th, 2019 at the Dayton LGBT Center!
